Hooot Safety Tips: National Best Friends Day

In honor of National Best Friends Day, today's Safety Tip Tuesday post is all about keeping your friends safety-conscious! Having a best friend - or, if your lucky, having a few - is one of the greatest gifts in the world. They're the person that is always there for you - a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh when you need it, your favorite person to do nothing with. An extension of your family, they're there for you through the good times and the bad. And just like your family, their safety is important to you, too. For National Best Friends Day, we've gathered a few tips to share with your bestie to keep them safe while out and about!

Use the Buddy System

Old but gold. Using the buddy system is a tried and true safety method. Leaving to get a drink or use the restroom during a night out may lead to vulnerable situations when someone is left alone. Stay together as much as possible, even going to the bathroom together, especially when you're in an unfamiliar setting.

Stay Up-To-Date

Keeping each other in the know. Let your bff know what you're up to, and have her do the same. Giving a heads up before venturing out to run an errand or take a jog can be helpful in the event of a dangerous situation unfolding for either of you. Always let each other know what your plans are, when you plan to be back home, and when you actually are home.

Keep an Eye Out

Sorta like the buddy system. When you're out on the town, it's important to keep an eye on each other. Chances are you know each other's limits, and what you're like when you might have had a few too many. Keep each other in check, and be mindful of each other's surroundings, making sure no one is messing with your drinks.

In Case of Emergency

SOS. While all these tips are supposed to keep you and your bestie close and in check, the truth is that things won't always go as planned. In case of emergency, make sure you both have an emergency plan. Memorize each other's phone numbers, pick a designated meet-up spot in case you get separated - just a couple of tips to keep in mind!
